Good news, thanks to all contributors 13.78% of Kenney Land has been funded. Would be great if you could help fund this dream of my and contribution to the game development community. What the hell is Kenney Land?

To help local game developers in southern Netherlands in their career I'm starting a venue. This venue will be a place where independent developers, artists and musicians can visit to work, learn, teach, create and play. It'll also provide resources like books, pre-made assets, game engines, development kits and computers for them to use. Various kinds of events will be organized like workshops, trainings, meetings, game jams and play sessions.

Over the last couple of months I've been releasing over 6,000 different assets, all very free to use. I absolutely love helping developers but I'd like to take it to the next level;

I've rented a place where (after a bit of remodeling, hence the crowdfunding campaign) game developers can come to learn, teach, create and play. We'll be organizing game jams, workshops, trainings and meetings and there will be resources available (place to work, devkits, books) so game developers can get started right away.

Many of you don't live near Kenney Land (which will be located in Kerkrade, Netherlands, my hometown and close to both the German and Belgian border) so that's why I decided to give a pretty beefy perk. If you decide to pledge $20 or more you'll receive over 4,000 brand new assets - never released before! Take a look at the crowdfund video or page to see a preview of all assets.

Hope you'll be able to pledge, if not, sharing is also very welcome! If you have any questions or like to know technical stuff, I'll be here to answer them!

Great at programming but don't have the time or talent to create the graphical side? Don't want to collabrate with one of those snobby designers? Let me help you out!

I've made a package which includes over 5,000 graphical elements to create a wide arrange of games with. From RPG to platformer to Flappy Bird to an isometric Sim City-like game.

All you have to do is either donate $1 USD or more (hey come on now, that's not much!) or tweet about it. You'll receive the full package and since it's licensed CC Zero (CC0) you may use these assets in personal and commercial projects - woah!

That's not all though, the package also includes over 250 sound effects and 10 full fonts...also licensed CC0!

Just released 49 new sprites and tiles that go together with the previously released Platformer Art Deluxe package. They're licensed CC0, which means you can use them in personal or commercial projects. Vector files are included, enjoy!

If you're a regular in the NG chat you might have heard about NG Chat+.

What is NG Chat+?
It's a Flash version of the original Newgrounds chat with some new features. It uses less bandwidth on your side and doesn't even need a server (due to P2P technology). Features include clicking usernames for their userpage, smoother chatting, emoticons, sound on mentions, local timestamps, spam and flood filters and settings to adjust all these features.

So, can I use NG Chat+ right now?
Yes and no, currently it's in beta and it's invite-only. Don't worry though, if you're a NG member for longer than a year you can reply to this post or send me a PM to gain access.

When will it be public then?
I'm aiming for a mid-August launch. The chat will be released in the portal. To my knowledge it won't be replacing the old chat.

What other features are planned?
Customizable backgrounds, channels, private chatting, chat logs (+ local chat log saving), choosing name color, an option to tag yourself as "AFK" and possibly more. A bit of video streaming wouldn't hurt either ;)

So, why are you doing this exactly?
I found out about the P2P technology (see point 1) and thought it would be fun to create. So just like Pico's School DX, this is a labor of love.

What is the Open Bundle?

The Open Bundle is a collective effort of 6 Newgrounds artists who decided to share their game assets with the community. You can choose how much you want to pledge and use the assets in your projects. However, if we reach our $10,000 goal, everything in the bundle will be licensed Public Domain Zero so that everyone can use, download and share the assets!

What is in the bundle?

The bundle includes the following assets:
- Soundtracks from Adventure Story, Bullet Heaven and Epic Battle Fantasy III by HalcyonicFalconX.
- Art & animations from two never before seen games by Jimp.
- Soundtrack and full source code of Reimagine :The Game: by NutcaseNightmare.
- Two full musical albums by Stratkat.
- Platformer Deluxe tileset art by me, Kenney.
- Art from Heavy Terror Machine, Nightstrike and Da Pink Knight by Mindchamber.

A couple of months ago YouTube decided to scrap their AS2 API which in turn made The Silver Nugget unplayable. The project is close to my heart so I decided to man up and reprogram the game in AS3. And guess what? It's playable right now!

PLAY THE SILVER NUGGET RE-RELEASE, REMEMBER TO VOTE!

Huge thanks to Tom Fulp who offered to host the video files (which didn't work out due to server issues) at first. As a thank you to Newgrounds I've added medals and NG highscores. So get shootin'!

Other news...

Haven't had time to work on Pico's History Class, but the deadline is Pico Day 2014 so I think I'm alright. Right now I'm putting most of my free time into a point 'n click adventure engine which will power multiple games. It's in the style of classic LucasArts games and is shaping up really well. There's items to pick up, scene changes, actors, conversations, animated scripts, pathfinding and everything else you come to expect from a decent adventure game - more on that next week!

Pico's School DX won Pico Day 2013 in the game section, GREAT news! As a celebration I will do a second patch later on which will add the last remaining features (punk guy pees his pants, you can flush the urinals clean).

In other news I slooooowly started Pico's History Class (also known as Pico 1.5, not Pico 2) which will be my all original Pico game. I will be integrating features that were meant to be in Tom Fulp's Pico 2 like the ability to switch between using/talking and shooting which you can see in the lower left part of the screenshot below.

In other, other news I'm doing Newgrounds Kart with MindChamber which will be pretty awesome. Full 3D with the ability to run fullscreen, which will make it look and feel like an actual game for once. I don't want to show you much just yet because it's very early on and there are no assets done yet so enjoy the tiny screenshot.
