Yesterday I released Marblet, I was hugely disappointed by the low score it got and even more disappointed that I didn't know why. Almost nobody gave a review so I wouldn't know what to improve on or what is wrong with the game. I have 2 things listed already;

1. The controls. Almost everyone thinks the 'normal' controls don't work with an isometric view, they work great with a joystick or a trackball (Marble Madness YAY) but I guess not so much with buttons. I've made an alternate control scheme with an isometric layout to show you that isometric controls are harder to control, check it out here:

Check the alternate control scheme of Marblet

2. The difficulty. When you develop a game you play it alot. When you play games alot you (can) get really good at them. I guess I played Marblet a little too much and made the levels hard for the general audience while I can finish the game in a breeze.

So, what do you think of Marblet? If you don't like it, why? What's wrong?

Hear ye, hear ye,

I'm currently making a brand new game, well actually it's 100% done already but I yet have to find a sponsor. If you are a sponsor, visit www.flashgamelicense.com to make a nice bid on it!

The game is basicly Yahtzee, nothing else. It's more of a practice for me but it turned out neat enough for the world to see. It has clear instructions, multiple dice and background styles and worldwide highscorelists.

Expect it soon!

New game coming!

The last couple of days I've been working on something else than games in Flash, I've been creating a simulation of the Wii menu for Windows. But one that allows you to create your own channels by selecting an exe file to start when the channel is selected.

The newest version is alpha 0.2 right now and it's working great so far, lot's of attention on various websites from Kotaku to Chip.de.

Go check it out!

At first glance the new audio portal has gone even worse than it was before. The audio portal is there to give developers and animators a good choice of music for their submissions without all the copyright hassle.

But how about the browsing hassle? When I'm making a game I'm looking for a style of music, not a genre. Let's say I have a menu with a hero showing...where would I look, techno? rock? Why isn't there just a style called "Orchestral". Wouldn't styles likes suspense, cheerful, horror and romantic make much more sense.

Why do I have to got to a new page every single fucking time I would like to listen to a piece of music that might be good for my game? What do I care for an animation playing in the beat of my music, I'm looking for music not entertainment.

The new audio portal sucks even more than the old, I'll stick to the risk of copyright violation. That's alot easier than browsing through the most graphical website on the net, after Gamespot that is.

The rest of the redesign all seems to work well and looks great. Seems like the audio portal is being left out of this whole redesign.

This is strange...
